With all the uncertainties surrounding Halloween in 2020, the folks from Sour Patch Kids candy are doing something cool that we could take advantage of here in Central New York.

This Halloween, Sour Patch Kids is bringing reverse trick or treating to 12 communities around the U.S. And you can nominate your community. Great idea during the COVID-19 pandemic. One of the super lucky communities will receive a visit from a giant mobile Jack-o-Lantern vehicle dispensing candy door-to-door.

According to CandyIndustry.com, the entry process is pretty easy to become one of the 12 cities:

To enter on Halloween day, fans in the 12 cities can either head to Twitter or Instagram. Simply tweet @sourpatchkids #SourThenSweetHalloween #Sweepstakes or head to Sour Patch Kids Instagram to either swipe up on the brand’s Instagram Story or click the link-in-bio to see if you’ve won. Participants must be 18 years or older.

Sour Patch Kids (they're called Very Bad Kids in France) were originally created under the name of Mars Men in the early 1970s. Later that decade, Cadbury and the Smeera Blyton Licorice Company of Sweden formed another candy company in Canada and continued to produce them. In 1985 they were renamed to Sour Patch Kids, likely capitalizing on the popularity of Cabbage Patch Kids.
