Holiday Festivals of Trees Set To Shine In Oneonta and Norwich, NY
The holiday season is almost here and with it come wonderful events to enjoy. We have two festival of trees events to fill you in on. One is in-person and one will be virtual so that anyone can take it in.
Destination Oneonta is once sponsoring the Festival of Trees coming up at Foothills Performing Arts Center in Oneonta on December 3 and 4 at the Foothills production center (brick building). All trees are decorated and sponsored by local businesses and community members and can be viewed at Foothills on December 3 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and also on Saturday, December 4 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. People will be given an opportunity to win a tree by purchasing tickets but viewing the Festival of Trees is free. Winners of each tree will be drawn on Dec. 4 at 2:15 pm.

But wait, there's more! The Chenango County Historical Society (CCHS) is also having a "Parade of Trees" as a fundraiser for CCHA and this one is going to be virtual so that anyone can check it out at their convenience. The Parade of Trees will run from December 6 through January 6, 2022. Prior to the beginning of last year's COVID crisis, this event was held in person but for the sake of keeping everyone safe, CCHS made it a virtual event. Much like the Oneonta Festival of Trees, trees are decorated for this "parade" by local charitable organizations. The trees highlight the culture, history and heritage of Chenango County and there will be a winning tree selected through viewer voting. You can vote for your favorite tree by making a donation to the charitable organization whose tree you like most through their "team page". The earnings from the winning tree get split by that organization and CCHS with donations to all other trees supporting the mission of CCHS.
