New York is allowing high-risk school sports and recreational activities to resume effective Feb. 1 pending approval from local health departments. Those sports include basketball, hockey, wrestling and cheerleading among others. Under the new guidance participation in competitions and tournaments will again be allowed. State Senators Peter Obracker and Fred Akshar wrote letters to Governor Andrew Cuomo encouraging the resumption of winter sports.
