Hartwick College to Resume Classes Wednesday

In-person classes at Hartwick College are set to resume on Wednesday. According to college officials, two weeks ago classes were suspended as a precaution due to the SUNY Oneonta COVID-19 outbreak. There are 12 confirmed coronavirus cases among students with 7 still active, all of which are students. There have been no cases among the faculty and staff.

To return to class, students need to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours. Those students who spent the remote period in an area designated a “hot spot” by the state will not be allowed to return to campus this semester.

Hartwick President Margaret L. Drugovich states, “Our students have made it clear that they want to return to the classroom, and the vast majority have demonstrated they can and will honor the rules we’ve put in place to control the spread of COVID-19. Now, our ability to continue in-person instruction is dependent on every member of our community taking responsibility for themselves and others by following our comprehensive guidelines. We have articulated a bright line for what behavior is acceptable for our community and what is not, and we will continue to hold everyone accountable. We believe there is a direct relationship between the exemplary behavior of nearly all members of our community and our infection rate of less than one percent.”
