(Press release from Hartwick College)

The Hartwick College Theatre Arts Department will present “Underneath the Lintel,” written by Glen Berger and originally performed by Brian T. Finney. Taylor Morin ’17 will perform the piece. This production will run from November 3 - 6, with performances Thursday to Saturday at 8 p.m. and a 2 p.m. show on Sunday in the Lab Theatre, Bresee Hall, on the College campus. Admission is free, and the performance is open to the public.

Berger’s one-person show follows a librarian as she tries to solve the mystery of a book that is 113 years overdue. Berger won an Ovation Award in 2001 and a Sterling Award in 2003 for “Underneath the Lintel.” The show has been performed in 55 cities in eight different countries, including a recent performance in Cooperstown, NY.

“The play connects to an age-old lesson: no matter what happens in life, you must continue on, keep living, no matter who tells you otherwise,” Morin said.

Morin’s performance will also complete their senior thesis in the theatre arts major.

“The Librarian discovers what it means to move on in life, how everything has a connection to something, and what it means to believe in anything,” Morin said. “The piece brings into question the belief in God and myths while trying to show proof of a man who may or may not be real.”

The “Underneath the Lintel” production team includes Stage Manager Kevin LeDone ’18, Projections Operator Chelsea Jones ’18, and Sound Operator Brendon Ruggi ’20.
