Fatal Farm Accident in Otsego County

Otsego County Sheriff's Office says a farming accident in Westford late Monday afternoon has claimed the life of a 40-year-old father of five.

Daniel Banks was attempting to free a frozen power take off on a corn chopper when the fatal accident occurred on a County Route 34 farm. When the PTO engaged, Banks' clothing became wrapped in the moving machinery and he was pulled in.

The county coroner pronounced Banks dead at the scene from severe blunt force trauma to his upper body.
