Two daily fantasy sports sites have asked a New York appellate court to allow them to continue operating as they appeal an order to shut down. Lawyers for DraftKings and FanDuel argue in court papers filed Monday that the appellate division should continue a temporary hold on the shut-down order it granted last month. Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has sued the companies, arguing their businesses amount to illegal gambling operations. The companies argue their games are based on skill, not chance. A lower court judge on December 11th sided with Schneiderman and barred the companies from operating. But a higher court blocked that order until the full panel of judges could consider it.
