Tonight is a great FREE way to continue the holiday weekend fun in Downtown Oneonta with Fabulous Friday from 5pm to 8pm, sponsored by Main Street Oneonta.  We've got the schedule of events and venues for you to enjoy below.

The featured entertainers in the Kim Muller Plaza tonight include Hejira: hypnotic music with a Middle Eastern flavor and belly dancing, Skyani (pronounced sky-an-I) and Ukulele virtuoso Stuart Fuchs (aka “Stukulele”).

At about 4:30pm, Hejira will perform Middle Eastern fusion with belly dancing for on lookers enjoyment.  They will also perform in between Stuart Fuchs and Skyani.

At 5pm, Ukulele virtuoso Stuart Fuchs (aka “Stukulele”) and his band of gypsies will perform an unforgettable evening of jaw dropping Ukulele music—including his “stunt ukulele” antics. His performances showcase a wide range of musical styles including Hawaiian, Gypsy Swing, Brazilian & Flamenco, Rockabilly Blues, Vaudevillian Comedy and even “serious” music (ala J.S. Bach). Here's a sampling below of Stuart doing his version of the Beatles, "Here There Everywhere".

Skyani will take the stage at 6pm.  Skyani is comprised of three young women, Sky, Khalil, and Charlotte, who are a wonderful, creative group of singers, musicians and song writers.  Their material is original with amazing harmonies.  Don't miss your opportunity to see this talented group of ladies tonight! Below is a performance of "Thoughts of You", one of their original songs.

And here's what else you can enjoy tonight:

  • At CANO – 11 Ford Avenue: “In Plane View” Artists: Gayle Gleckler and Tony Woolner with an opening reception from 5-8 pm.
  • At the Oneonta History Center- 183 Main Street: Player Piano Sing-Along!: 5-8 pm.  Join in singing old time favorites on the Shearer player piano.
  • At the Autumn Café - 244 Main Street:  Artist Exhibit: Paintings by Andrea House of Springfield Center, NY.

Pick up your brightly colored rack card with the venues and schedule in the plaza this evening or at any of the other venues and don't miss this free, family fun way to celebrate arts and culture in Oneonta.  I think it's just another reason why Oneonta is such a great place to live.
