State police at Margaretville and the Village of Delhi police assisted each other in the arrest of a Delaware County man early this morning.

Delhi Police responded to the Sunoco gas station in the Village of Delhi for a reported robbery at about 4 am this morning. The suspect, Jamel Wilson, 41, of Hobart, is alleged to have pushed the store clerk out of the way, stolen an unspecified amount of cash, then fled the scene. The police released a suspect and vehicle description.

The Margaretville troopers had been assisting a motorist in the Town of Roxbury when they heard the radio transmission. They proceeded toward County Route 18 in the Town of Stamford where they observed the suspect vehicle drive by. They then stopped the suspect and took him in to custody without incident. State police charged him with driving while ability impaired by drugs and criminal possession of a controlled substance. Wilson will return to the Town of Stanford Court at a later date.

He was then turned over to the Village of Delhi Police for their robbery investigation. Wilson was arrested and charged with robbery, petit larceny, and harassment. He was arraigned in the Town of Delhi Court and is now in the Delaware County Jail on $15,000.00 cash bail.
