On Sunday Governor Andrew Cuomo signed Briana’s Law which requires State Police and New York City Police Department candidates and officers to receive CPR training. The legislation which takes effect in October is named in memory of Briana Ojeda of Brooklyn who died from an asthma attack in 2010 after a police officer who stopped Briana’s mother was unable to perform CPR. Officers will be required to get re-certified every two years.
