After months of going back and forth, it appears lawmakers in Washington are on the verge of wrapping a new COVID relief package.

I know it is hard to believe, as we have seen this dance go on for months. But according to a Times Union story, negotiators in Washington are close to wrapping up a $900 billion coronavirus relief package that would provide a $300 weekly unemployment benefit, support to extend state unemployment and direct stimulus payments in the $600 range. The bill would also provide paycheck protection for businesses.  The Times Union story says lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are eager to get a deal done before the holidays, so maybe the timing will finally lead to something getting accomplished.

I think at this point most American's are in the 'we'll believe it when we see it' camp as this back and forth has gone on for months. And maybe you're also thinking this probably will not turn into anything. At this point, all we can do is wait to see if this latest rumored deal actually gets signed, sealed, and delivered.

Personally, I am super lucky and blessed to still be employed through all this pandemic madness. For those of us who have been so lucky, I say hold off on the direct payments and get that money to those who need it most. No matter what happens, let's just hope some aid and relief gets to those who could really benefit from it.
