What if a millionaire offered you and your spouse a free trip Mars?  Would you do it? There is a catch.  You wouldn't actually get to land on Mars and the couple chosen will most likely be old enough to be out of their child bearing years due to the radiation risk.  Still want in?  Then be ready to go in 2018 because that's when Mars will be closest to the Earth.  Putting this mission together is Taber MacCallum, CEO of Paragon Space Development Corporation and millionaire Dennis Tito.  In 2001, Tito became the first space tourist flying on a Russian rocket to the International Space Station.

This would be a private mission, not involving NASA and the team believes they can do it for under $1 billion.  Space flight is not cheap you know.
