Invasive species continue to be an issue in the area. That’s why Cornell Cooperative Extension Schoharie and Otsego Counties and Cornell Cooperative Extension Delaware County, in collaboration with the Catskill Regional Invasive Species Program, will host an iMapInvasives Training from 12:30-4:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the FoxCare Center Wellness Community Room.

Cornell Cooperative extension officials say research has shown that the best strategy to deal with invasive species is to identify and eradicate before they become established. This training is designed to train people who are interested in participating in an early detection and reporting process of invasive species that will help officials target eradication and control efforts throughout the region.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops (and power cords) as experts from the New York iMapInvasives Team provide hands-on interactive training for basic and advanced data entry of invasive species observations and respective GPS coordinate locations.

There is no fee for this program but space is limited. Pre-registration is required by Monday. To register or for more information please call 607-865-6531.
