There are so many unknowns as we head back to the school year. Most obvious, of course, is the concern we all have with the surge in new COVID cases in our area and the nation.  Schools once again have some hard choices to make.  It is so regrettable that we are looking at possible new mask mandates for teachers and students, or that the idea of hybrid learning or remote learning from home could even be considered after the difficult year everybody has gone through.  But, those are all possible.

One thing is for sure, however, and that is that the Cooperstown schools will be getting a new principal for the new year!

Karl O’Leary is the new Cooperstown School Jr./Sr. High School Principal. Mr. O’Leary joined Cooperstown Central School District on July 12, 2021. He comes to the district with over 17 years of experience and the last three years serving in the building leader capacity as an Assistant Principal or Principal. Prior to serving in an administrative capacity, Mr. O’Leary was an English teacher and coach. He is an avid runner, cyclist, and enjoys the outdoors with his two sons. He is from this area and is looking forward to returning here.

All of us at Townsquare Media wish Karl O'Leary the best in the challenging year ahead.  And we welcome the whole O'Leary family to Cooperstown and know that they will enjoy all that this special place has to offer.
