Chicken Wing Shortage Just in Time for the Super Bowl
Are you looking to plan the perfect Super Bowl party complete with lip smacking chicken wings? You'd better buy them now because it would seem we have a chicken wing shortage on our hands according to The National Chicken Council. That organization just released a report that said the demand for wings this year is at "an all-time high" due to decreased wing production caused by the high cost of corn and feed prices.
The wings that are out there now are not cheap, you could find them priced as high as $2.11 a pound. That's a 12 percent increase from last year. So I'd get your wings now because The National Chicken Council estimates that there will be 1.23 billion wing segments consumed during the big game on February third. That's a lot of wings!
Once you get your wings, if you want a great barbecue chicken wing recipe, our very own "Dan the Man" has a great recipe for you.
