Counties in the 51st Senate District will receive the lion’s share of $16 million in state grants and matching funds for stream and flood restoration work to repair damages from Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee.

Chenango County will receive a $330,000 grant; Delaware County a $500,000 grant and $173,462 in matching funds; and Otsego County will get a grant of $335,000 with matching funds of over $123,000.

State senator James Seward says the flood mitigation grants are another signal to flood ravaged communities that New York State is standing by them throughout the rebuilding process, and a pledge to homeowners and businesses that they are doing all they can to make New York state a great place to live, work and prosper.
