Burn Ban In Effect Across New York State
A statewide burn ban is in effect until May 14 according to the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
In a statement, the DEC says the lack of snow cover over much of the state and rising temperatures forecasted in the upcoming week means conditions for wildfires could be heightened.
Campfires using charcoal or untreated wood are allowed, but fires should not be left unattended and they must be extinguished.
