BREAKING NEWS: Gas Leak on Lower East Street, Oneonta

The Oneonta Fire Department issued the follow statement at 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning:

A natural gas leak has forced the closing of the streets and sidewalks in the (lower East Street, Center Street to Irving Place, and Union to Maple Street) area for what is expected to be several hours.

Vehicle and pedestrian traffic should avoid this area. No evacuation has been ordered at this time.

NYSEG crews are currently on the scene and will repair the leak as rapidly as possible. The OFD is also on the scene.
