It's time again for a fun and unique event in Oneonta. The 17th annual Priscilla Thompson Golf Ball Drop returns Saturday, September 23rd at 10:00am. This is a free community event and serves as the yearly fundraiser for the Family Service Association. There will be a host of activities for all ages and will take place at the 6th Ward Booster fields on Scramling Avenue, which is right off River Street in Oneonta.

What Does the Family Service Association Do?

Per the FSA website:

The Association has been part of the area human service community since 1909. It is a private, non-profit human service agency.

Funding is provided by United Way of Delaware and Otsego Counties, as well as area foundations, churches and contributions from area residents.

The mission of the family service association is to support individual and family strengths and to assist area residents in meeting their own needs.

FORE! Look for Falling Golf Balls!

The main attraction of the day is watching over 500 golf balls dropped from a helicopter. Participants will watch to see which balls are closest to the hole. Cash prizes will be given to three lucky winners who guessed closest to the pin.

Other attractions and activities include free food, ice cream, face painting, basket raffles, bounce house, BJ the Clown, Utica Zoo, Safe Kids ID, and a canine demonstration from the Otsego County Sherriff's Department.

Golf Ball Drop tickets are available at the Family Service Association's offices at 277 Chestnut Street in Oneonta, as well as onsite during the event. Tickets are $5.
