I don't know what's going on but I have noticed more bees on my property in Oneonta than ever before!  Fortunately, I'm not allergic to bees, however I have bees living in the shingles on my house, in the ground in the yard, in holes in our backyard maple, and even in our porch railings!  They seem to be everywhere.

In addition, there are different kinds of bees living all over my property as well: honey bees, bumblebees, and I discovered yellow jackets when I was weeding. They weren't happy with me messing around their in-ground home and stung me twice before I could get away.  Ouch!  In fact, I have been stung three times already this summer due to encountering more bees than ever before. Before this summer, I hadn't been stung in years.

I'm not sure why so many bees have moved onto our property and I know they are great for pollinating my garden but there are way more than enough for that.  I sure wish they would find some other place to live!
