SUNY Cobleskill Research Foundation has launched a five-year grant initiative in partnership with Bassett Healthcare Network called Creating Healthy Schools and Communities, funded by the New York State Department of Health. The $250,000 grant is one of 25 statewide and designed to increase access to healthy foods and opportunities for physical activity in high-need local communities. Strategies will focus on combating obesity and other chronic diseases in five school districts and their surrounding communities: Walton, Sidney, Otego, Unadilla, Richfield Springs and Charlotte Valley Central School in Davenport.
