Baseball Hall of Fame to Mark 75th Anniversary with Celebration

COOPERSTOWN, NY – On June 12th 1939, the inaugural classes of the Baseball Hall of Fame were inducted on the front steps of what was then known as the National Baseball Museum.

Seventy-five years later to the day, the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will celebrate its Diamond Anniversary with Hall of Famers, special programs, and shared memories by those who witnessed that historic day.

Joe Morgan and Cal Ripken will be the honored guests as the Museum commemorates its historic anniversary and marks a weekend celebration that will also feature the dedication of the Museum’s newest exhibit: Babe Ruth: His Life and Legend.

The Museum will also celebrate its online collaboration with Google Cultural Institute with the launch of two virtual photography galleries featuring highlights from exhibits that have recently opened in the Museum.

The festivities will begin on Thursday June 12th at 11 a.m. with a Celebration Ceremony on the Museum’s front steps – just paces from the original entrance – featuring Hall of Famers Morgan and Ripken along with Museum Chairman of the Board Jane Forbes Clark and President Jeff Idelson.

Following the event, visitors will be invited in to experience the Museum and to sing “Happy Birthday!” and enjoy the Hall of Fame’s 75th Anniversary Birthday Cake.
