‘Awww How Cute’ Moment With Newborn Giraffe [Video]

Here is an adorable video found on youtube that was filmed in Greenwich, CT March 22nd at the at LEO Zoological Conservation Center. The video shows, Petal, a 6 year old endangered Rothschild giraffe and her just born female calf. Watch as the baby giraffe gives standing for the first time a try.

While we’re at it, let’s throw out some giraffe facts at you from the LEO Zoological Conservation Center: the average gestation period is 15 months and a mother giraffe gives birth while standing. The Rothschild giraffe, found in Africa, is classified as endangered on IUCN Red List and there are fewer than 670 left in the wild.
