Are Americans Getting More or Less Honest? — Survey of the Day
Thanks partially to presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, Americans have always prided themselves on being honest.
But are we still following the example of these icons?
According to a poll of 1,000 adults by Rasmussen Reports, maybe not so much. Sixty-six percent of the survey’s respondents answered that Americans aren’t as honest as they used to be.
The poll did also yield some more positive data, however. Fifty-eight percent believe their fellow citizens are still “basically honest,” up from 52 percent when Rasmussen asked the same question in 2010.
