As the 2020 Pride Month observance draws to a close Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Sunday that New York veterans who were denied honorable discharge due to their LGBTQ identity can now submit applications to receive state veterans benefits as part of The Restoration of Honor Act. Cuomo signed the measure last November The state Department of Financial Services also issued guidance to insurance companies doing business in New York to not discriminate based on sexual orientation, gender identity or transgender status.
