Work is beginning on replacing the state Route 7 bridge over Kelsey Brook in the Village of Afton. New York State Department of Transportation acting Commissioner Paul Karas says the $1.9 million project will make the region safer during storms and ensure travelers and emergency responders can make it to their destinations. The first phase of construction runs through Halloween and when a lane of the roadway is closed traffic will be controlled by temporary signals. Around 2,500 vehicles per day use the bridge.
