A Whitney Point man has been arrested by the New York State Police, accused of filing forty-eight false reports to the New York State Child Abuse Hot Line

On April 15th the New York State Police in Kirkwood arrested Harry C. Clauson, 44, of Whitney Point for endangering the welfare of a child and forty-eight separate counts of making false child abuse reports to the New York State Child Abuse Hot line.

The reports occurred between September 27th, 2013 and February 17th, 2014, often at odd hours of the day and night. All of the reports alleged violent acts against children or having occurred in the presence of children.

Each report necessitated immediate response and investigation by Broome County Child Protective Services, the New York State Police and/or the Broome County Sheriff’s Department, thus repeatedly exposing the children to sensitive interviews and examinations.

Most of the reports were made anonymously, while some reports were made using the names of other individuals without their knowledge.

Clauson was arrested on a warrant issued by the Town of Barker Court, arraigned in the Town of Chenango Court and remanded to the Broome County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail and/or $2,000 property bond.
