Remember the days when all the dishes were washed by hand?  I can easily remember those days before my parents were able to afford a dishwasher.  My brother, sister and I were the resident dishwashers much to our dismay.  Now, it looks like going back to washing dishes by hand is a good idea from a health perspective.

According to a new study out of Sweden, researchers have linked an increase of children's allergies to automatic dishwashers.  The theory is that hand-washed dishes have more bacteria on them, allowing the body to build up a tolerance to exposure and build up resistance to allergens.

All that sounds great but do they really think in our modern era of being in a rush all the time, we really want to go back to hand washing dishes?  It's a nice idea but in my humble opinion, it's not going to fly no matter how much sense it makes. Plus, as a former child allergy sufferer, I assure you that not having a dishwasher didn't help me at all with my allergies.  I think more research is needed to discover various contributors to children's allergies.
