Otsego County Conservation Association is seeking volunteers to help clean up a portion of State Route 80 beginning at 8 a.m. Friday, which is also Earth Day. OCCA adopted the two-mile stretch of State Route 80 in the towns of Springfield and Otsego back in 2013 as part of New York State’s Adopt-A-Highway Program. Volunteers will meet at OCCA’s office at Mohican Farm, on the corner of Route 80 and Allen Lake Road, to collect trash along the roadside. Trash bags and safety equipment are provided by the New York State Department of Transportation, which administers the statewide program. OCCA will provide water and light refreshments. Participants should wear long pants and sleeves. To register, call (607) 282-4087. The event is open to those ages 12 and up.
