After reporting yesterday on an accident just outside of Otego involving a golf cart and train,  more details have come out in a press release issued by New York State Police in Oneonta.

According to New York State Police, on August 9 at about 2:54p.m., NYS Police from Oneonta responded to a report of a golf cart striking a train behind 515 County Route 48 in Otego, NY. Upon arrival troopers discovered the driver of the golf cart, Charles W. Turk, 57, of Bloomville, NY, to be deceased. His wife and only passenger, Cynthia E. Turk, 58, was found with severe injuries. Mrs. Turk was transported to Albany Medical Center after sustaining non-life threatening injuries.

So far, the investigation has revealed that Mr. Turk was attempting to cross a private agricultural crossing of the Canadian Pacific railroad tracks, when he was struck by a Canadian Pacific Engine. No further details have been released and the investigation is continuing.
