The Canadarago Lake Improvement Association with assistance from the State University College at Oneonta and its Biological Field Station has confirmed that the algae Oscillatoria which can produce a small amount of toxins, is back in Canadarago Lake. Bakers Beach in Richfield Springs will remain open but signs have been posted to warn people about the algae. Officials say most of the blooms are on the east side of the lake while the Beach is on the west side. Water samples have been sent to the state DEC for toxicity testing.
