State Troopers Begin Three-Day International Road Check Truck drivers who travel in northern New York State can expect to be pulled for more inspections this week. State troopers are participating in the annual international road check. The three day program began yesterday and runs through tomorrow.

Cuomo Wants to De-Criminalize Small Pot Possession New York governor Andrew Cuomo is proposing to de-criminalize the possession of small amounts of marijuana. The proposal would make it a violation to have less than 25 grams of pot; conviction would result in a $100 fine.

NYS Holds First Annual Museum Week From now through June 6 New York residents are encouraged to celebrate the first annual New York State Museum Week. State senator James Seward says that during the period, more than 200 museums will offer special events, activities and promotions to give guests a sample of the exhibitions and programs offered by the state’s nearly 2,000 museums.

I Love New York Returns The state has spent $5 million to overhaul the 30-year-old theme to attract tourists and promote the Empire State. The ad campaign will start on television with pictures of famous New York destinations replacing the familiar red heart logo.

Accident During Bainbridge Parade Leaves 9-year-old Boy Dead A 9-year old boy was killed when he fell off a parade float at the Memorial Day parade. There are few details so far about the incident from police.  Media reports say the boy fell off near the main street intersection when the plastic chair he was riding in fell over the side when the float came to a stop.  The boy was run over when the

Cuomo Takes Over NYRA New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has taken over control of the New York Racing Association. The governor will choose a new chairman and members of a temporary board of directors.

Police Focus on Seatbelt Use Police officers throughout the region will participate in another effort to get people to wear their seat belts. A 14-day state-wide campaign called “Buckle Up New York” begins today.
