Former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett will continue his prolific solo career in 2017 with the release of a new album, The Night Siren.

Due out March 24 via InsideOut Music, Hackett's latest effort serves as "a wake-up call," according to its press release — one sounding "the warning of a siren sounding in this era of strife and division." To that end, he lined up a culturally diverse combo including an array of instrumentalists and singers from the Middle East, assembled in order to reflect his own eclecticism as well as his personal belief that music transcends borders even in war-troubled times.

"This latest waxing represents a bird’s eye view of the world of a musical migrant ignoring borders and celebrating our common ancestry with a unity of spirit, featuring musicians, singers and instruments from all over the world," says Hackett. "From territorial frontiers to walled-up gateways, boundaries often hold back the tide. But while the night siren wails, music breaches all defenses. To quote Plato, ‘When the music changes, the walls of the city shake.'"

In addition to The Night Siren — scheduled for release on digital and standard physical formats as well as in a deluxe CD/Blu-ray package that includes a making-of documentary, as well as a 5.1 surround mix — Hackett's lined up a series of North American dates for his Genesis Revisited with Classic Hackett tour, which touches down in the U.S. between mid-February and early March.
