Norwich city police responded to a 911 call late Monday morning that a
subject was demanding prescription narcotics at the Service Pharmacy in
Norwich. Before police arrived, the suspect left the area in a vehicle.
Several minutes later a citizen called 911 and reported they were
following the suspect. The citizen stayed on the phone and continued to
report locations and direction of travel. At about 11:30 a.m., a trooper
with help from the citizen, located the suspect's vehicle in the hamlet
of South New Berlin. The suspect had entered a house and backup was
called in from several agencies. After about 40 minutes, the suspect was
taken into custody without incident. Arrested was 27 year old Jeffrey
Cabral of South New Berlin. Cabral was charged with 3rd degree robbery,
a class D felony and petit larceny a class A misdemeanor. Cabral was
arraigned in Norwich City Court and remanded to the Chenango county
correctional Facility on 25 thousand dollars cash bail.
