A show Pete Townshend taped with his Deep End band for a 1986 appearance on the long-running German TV series Rockpalast will make its official debut on DVD and CD later this year.

Titled Face the Face, the live set — which is also being made available on digital formats — is set to arrive Sept. 16. Bolstered by a backing band that included David Gilmour, longtime keyboardist John "Rabbit" Bundrick and future Toto drummer Simon Phillips, Townshend delivered a wide-ranging set that encompassed solo songs (including material from his then-current White City LP), Who favorites and even a cover of Screamin' Jay Hawkins' "I Put a Spell on You."

Recorded on on Jan. 29, 1986, the Face the Face show offers a new look at a period Townshend previously commemorated with his 1986 Deep End Live! LP — and again, more comprehensively, with his 2004 archival release Live: Brixton Academy '85. Promising a "fascinating and compelling" experience, the label's press release adds, "Pete Townshend and the band deliver an outstanding performance that showcases him as a solo artist distinct from his work with the Who."

Face the Face is available for pre-order. Check out the complete track listing below.
