Once again, Oneonta Rotary Club, whose mantra is "service above self" since its inception in 1922 is doing a fundraiser to support "Operation Warm", a national project to distribute warm coats to children.  In Oneonta Rotary's case, they are raising money through the sale of scratch off lottery tickets, to purchase as many coats as possible for Oneonta area children.

According to Chad Smith, Oneonta Rotary past president and co-chair of the Operation Warm Committee, last year Rotary was able to provide Oneonta elementary school children and Laurens children with 240 new coats and since 2009 when Oneonta Rotary began participating in this program, they have provided over 1000 children with warm coats.

This Saturday, September 8, Oneonta Rotary will have a table at the Catskill Choral Society's Grand and Glorious Garage Sale on Oneonta's Main Street, offering scratch off tickets for sale as part of this fundraiser.  If you would like to help out with this wonderful project, this is your last chance so stop by and see Rotary members at that event.  Drawings will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow.
