The 2016 Scripps National Spelling Bee is coming up May 22nd to 27th near Washington, D.C. and an Oneonta Middle School 8th grader will be there.  Mary Noorlander from Oneonta, NY is going to be attending as one of five finalists in the Spellebrity Video Contest.  Thousands voted in this national competition, created by the Scripps National Spelling Bee and its presenting sponsor, Kindle.  After a week of voting by the public, fans chose their favorites from 10 Semifinalists. Each of the five winning finalists wins an expenses-paid trip to watch the 2016 Scripps National Spelling Bee and a Kindle Paperwhite.  One of the five finalists will have a chance to win $1000 cash and a Spellebrity trophy if their video entry is chosen as the best video by the participants of the National Finals Spelling Bee .  Like the other contestants, Mary N. had to creatively produce a video that spells out how to kindle the love of reading. The Scripps National Spelling Bee and Kindle launched the contest as part of the celebration of National Reading Month in March.
