New York state parks, historic sites, and campgrounds served 69 million people in 2016. A news release from Governor Andrew Cuomo says that’s up 6 percent from 2015 and a 21 percent increase from 2011 when Cuomo took office.

In a statement, Cuomo says major investments made by his administration to preserve and improve parks, historic sites and campgrounds are critical to attracting new visitors, and he encourages New Yorkers and visitors alike to explore everything the parks system has to offer.
