You've seen it on a drug store shelf, maybe you even have a bottle of it in your medicine cabinet: witch hazel.  Witch hazel comes from the North American Witch Hazel shrub.  Don't ask me what one looks like but it was discovered early on by Native Americans, who used witch hazel to reduce inflammation and shrink tumors.

I believe that I have uncovered yet another thing it's good for: shrinking pimples.  As much as I would love to say that I have perfect skin at all times, I don't, especially when I start getting into the Easter chocolate.  A few days ago I tried witch hazel on a pimple that was particularly red and sore and the next day, it was virtually gone!  I couldn't believe it.  Was that just a coincidence?  No, since after the fact, I discovered that witch hazel is commonly used to treat acne, but it also treats sores, bruises, psoriasis, eczema, prevents facial sweating and cracked/blistered skin, and helps relieve insect bites, poison ivy, and hemorrhoids. Wow! What a list.  You can bet I will make sure to keep a bottle of witch hazel in my medicine cabinet from now on.
