I'm fresh off a vacation with my family that took me to new heights...literally.  As a fun, physical and personal challenge we headed to Go Ape at Lums Pond State Park in Bear, Delaware.  This Go Ape location is the latest addition to only a handful of locations throughout the country, added just last year.  It's quite the adventure!  It's described as "the USA’s No.1 Zip Line & Treetop Adventure!" and in my opinion, it lives up to its name.

I had never experienced anything like this before.  There were five different sections to this obstacle course up in the trees, each section higher and more challenging than the last.  If you have a fear of heights, this just might be the cure.  You must wear a safety harness and are attached to something at all times.  Essentially, you are always completely safe, even though it seems like you could fall at any minute, especially if being high up is the last thing you like to be.

I found it to be somewhat physically demanding simply because there is a lot of rope ladder climbing and pulling yourself along but it was well worth it!  You can offset the physicality of this activity by taking your time since it's self guided and there are water stops and bathroom breaks available on the ground along the way.

I loved Go Ape and would go back again.  There were mixed reviews within my family however.  While my son and I loved it, my husband and daughter were more daunted by being very high up in the trees and some of the activities like jumping into a large rope net via a rope swing, Tarzan-style.  Even though there was no way you could fall, being all harnessed up, there was definitely an element of trust involved.

Check out some photos of my adventure below to see what it's all about...
