Have you received the IRS Tax scam call yet?  I have!  Thanks to the Oneonta Police Department, who shared information on this latest phone scam on the Oneonta Police Department Facebook page on September 14th, I was alerted in advance of this attempt by con artists to get sensitive and private information out of people.  Apparently there are some different versions of the scam because an automated voice on my answering machine warned me that an IRS lawsuit was pending against me.  Below is the message I received.

If you think you've received one of these fake calls, try to save the message and call 518-451-1566, or email dtfoia@tax.ny.gov. The Tax Department also emphasizes to never give out any personal information over the phone.
