Learn How to Shake Your Tail Feathers on National Chicken Dance Day [Video]
It's all the rage at weddings and kids' parties, it's the Chicken Dance and today is National Chicken Dance Day. Most everyone knows the chicken dance and it's all thanks to accordion player Werner Thomas from Davos, Switzerland, who composed the song back in the 1950's. Some say that it was a drinking song at Oktoberfest. By the 1980 it reached international audiences when Dutch band "De Electronica's" released an instrumental version called "De Vogeltjesdans" ("The dance of the little birds"). The record entered the Dutch charts and stayed there for over seven months. That helped the song take off internationally.
Now you can find out how to properly do the Chicken Dance thanks to the Lawrence Welk Show. This is a hoot and you'll love it. Kids especially love the Chicken Dance.
