Nearly 25,000 visitors poured into Unadilla Valley this weekend to watch the exciting Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship and other races.  The bucolic hills around New Berlin were jammed packed with cars, vans, trucks and motorcycles as fans from far and wide converged on this normally placid field just a couple of miles from the Chobani Yogurt manufacturing plant.  Ryan Dungey won the event.  Of course, with only one two-lane highway servicing the area (Rt. 8), a five-mile traffic jam signaled the end of a great weekend.  I think a lot of us forget about this event in our backyard.  But you can't deny...25,000 people represents an awful lot of "dollars" in our local economy!
