Taxpayers will be able to start filing their 2018 income tax on Monday, January 28, 2019. The Creating Assets, Savings and Hope (CASH) Coalition of Otsego and Delaware Counties has announced that taxpayers who meet income eligibility requirements will have the following options in order to be able to prepare and file their state and federal income taxes for free.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) is available for individuals and families who made under $55,000 in 2018. This program offers free tax preparation and filing by trained individuals. Appointments are required for this program and can be made by calling Catholic Charities at 607-432-0061. Please note that VITA will be moving from Chestnut to Maple street this year and remains on the bus line for your convenience.

MyFreeTaxes (MFT) is a United Way and H & R Block sponsored service available to individuals and families who made under $66,000.00 in 2018. This program is available for use on any home computer at (http://www.unitedway.org/myfreetaxes)

Don’t have a computer? Don’t worry. Public computers are available for people to prepare their own taxes at the following locations and times:

21Liberty St., Sidney, NY (8:30a.m.-4:30p.m., M-F)

1 Courthouse Square, Suite 3, Delhi, NY (8:30a.m.-4:30p.m., M-F)

Walk in assistance with My Free Taxes will also be available on the SUNY Delhi Campus on Feb 2, Feb 9, Feb 16, Mar 9, Mar 16, Mar 23, Mar 30 @ SUNY-Delhi Sanford Hall Room 148; 10AM-2PM.
