Four Chenango County farms are awarded state grants to improve soil quality, reduce erosion, increase soil organic matter and improve resiliency during periods of flood and drought.

The money comes from the second round of the state’s Climate Resilient Farming Grant Program which according to the governor’s office helps farms reduce their operational impact on the environment and better prepare for and recover after extreme weather events.

A total of $1.5 million was awarded statewide,
