Billy Joel is scheduled to have surgery later this month, prompting a concert planned for the end of the month to be moved to November.

According to Vintage Vinyl News, the singer-songwriter will undergo endoscopic sinus surgery to remove blockage in his sinuses. Because the procedure requires some rest, Joel will have to miss his scheduled performance at Madison Square Garden on Sept. 30.

That show, part of his monthly residency at the New York City venue, is being pushed back to Nov. 21.

A spokesman for Joel said "due to endoscopic sinus surgery, Billy Joel will reschedule his upcoming Sept. 30th concert at Madison Square Garden to Nov. 21, 2016. The procedure will require him to rest his voice and avoid any strenuous activity. With several weeks of rest, Billy is expected to make a full recovery."

Joel launched the residency at the Garden in 2014. Since its debut, every single performance has sold out. Even though he hasn't released an album since 2001's classical piece, Fantasies & Delusions, and a pop record since 1993's chart-topping River of Dreams, Joel has toured several times over the years, including a few runs with Elton John.

He's even been known to sit in with Billy Joel tribute bands from time to time, like he did back in June when he joined Big Shot for a trio of songs -- including "You May Be Right" and a cover of the Rolling Stones' "Honky Tonk Women" -- at their show in Huntington, N.Y.
