Delaware County Public Health Services says a raccoon has tested positive for rabies in the town of Davenport making it the third rabid raccoon found so far this year.

According to a news release from Delaware County Public Health, two dogs were exposed to the diseased raccoon when they cornered and killed the animal but both had a rabies vaccine and were given a rabies booster. Two people were also exposed and are receiving rabies post-exposure prophylaxis treatment.
