Anthony Robert Taglianetti, the Virginia man accused of the murder of former Sherburne- Earlville principal Keith Reed, Jr., is fighting extradition to western New York, where the killing took place.

Chautauqua County sheriff Joseph Gerace said Monday that it could be a month or more before Taglianetti is turned over to New York authorities.

He was arrested by U.S. Marshals on Friday in Virginia.

Reed was shot to death in woods behind his house on Sept. 21 in Clymer, where he was superintendent of schools.

According to published reports crediting an anonymous source familiar with the investigation, 42-year-old Taglianetti believed Reed was having an affair with his wife.

Taglianetti has been charged with 2nd degree murder.
