New York State is set to spend $43 million in a round of funding under the $2 billion Smart Schools Bond Act approved by voters in 2014. The money will go to 36 school districts for new projects that include $22.8 million for buying classroom technology, $12.9 million for internet connectivity, $5.3 million for high-tech security, and $2.1 million for pre-kindergarten classrooms.  The state budget director, chancellor of the State University of New York, and the state education commissioner approved the projects.
